ARTS by George! is This Weekend!
August 14, 2018
A rousing pep band, spectacular modern dance, virtual reality headsets, a mobile silent auction, and fine global cuisine are just a few examples of what guests experience at Mason’s annual ARTS by George! For one special evening this September 29, Mason’s College of Visual and Performing Arts kicks off the academic year by opening its rehearsal and performance spaces for a one-of-a-kind, interactive benefit event.
Guests will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes, moving through 10 open studios and rehearsal halls, meeting young artists studying at Mason, learning about their inspiring endeavors, watching their work up-close, and in some cases, even joining in on the action. Whether musical theater, opera, film, game design, symphony, dance, stage combat, or fine art—there is something for every artistic taste. This event features sumptuous food and beverages from Northern Virginia’s finest restaurants, as well as a mobile silent auction of exclusive arts, cuisine, sports, and travel experiences.
Since its inception in 2006, ARTS by George! has raised more than $1 million. Past scholarship recipients have gone on to achieve great success, including Broadway’s Hamilton cast member Sasha Hollinger and Hollywood music composer Vincent Oppido, whose credits include the 85th Academy Awards. More than 700 guests from communities surrounding Mason attend ARTS by George! each year, and are consistently in awe of the remarkable young talent being trained right here in Northern Virginia.
Mason invites you to be a part of the magic this year!
