There is no better way to celebrate National Volunteer Month than to become a Friend of the Center for the Arts (FCFA), joining a group of volunteers who have a passion for the performing arts and who devote their time and energy to support the Great Performances at Mason in the Center for the Arts. The support provided by the Friends of the Center for the Arts helps make it possible to present world class presentations in the Concert Hall, and the support and enthusiasm of our FCFA Friend volunteers radiate the importance of keeping performing arts alive and well in our lives and community.
The FCFA volunteers willingly and graciously give of their time to work on a variety of levels. Friends staff the Information Desk in the Center lobby during Great Performances. They answer questions that patrons may have and promote becoming a Friend, encouraging them to become a member of “Our Friends Family.” You will also find FCFA Friends working the Friends Refreshment area where they can socialize with other Friends and Representatives from the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA). You might even meet with Rick Davis, the Dean of the College of Performing and Visual Arts!
The FCFA Board Members are actively working on initiatives to support the future of the Center for the Arts, ensuring that our performing arts future is the epitome of great performances. The Give Voice campaign will help ensure the renovated Concert Hall is comprised of new technology to provide a leading-edge environment for all future performances and help secure the future of the performing arts here in Northern Virginia.
Friends on the FCFA Board Event Committee also help to plan and support activities such as Artists in Conversation, at which Great Performance Artists give talks and/or demonstrations to Friends, and Grand Tier Society (GTS) functions, at which GTS members get to meet artists on a personal one-on-one basis.
Watch for an upcoming event at which FCFA Friends will invite and introduce people previously unfamiliar with the Center for the Arts to experience all that the Center for the Arts has to offer, encouraging them to join our FCFA family.
