Volunteer Opportunities for the Friends of the Center for the Arts
The continued success of the Center for the Arts relies not only on financial contributions, but also on support from many Friends volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering your time to help, please explore the following opportunities. Volunteer training is offered prior to the start of each season.
Outgoing and approachable volunteers are wanted to staff the Friends Information Table in the Center for the Arts lobby before each Great Performances at Mason event and during intermission. Responsibilities include spreading the word about the work of the Friends, answering questions about membership benefits, and taking membership applications. In appreciation, Friends Information Table volunteers are eligible to receive a complimentary ticket to the performance at which they work.
Meet other Friends and help new Friends feel welcome by hosting the Friends Refreshment Area during a Great Performances at Mason event! In appreciation, Friends Refreshment Area volunteers are eligible to receive a complimentary ticket to the performance at which they work.
The Friends are looking for creative volunteers to help plan and execute the many special events held throughout the season, from post‐performance receptions to Artists in Conversation events. Responsibilities include determining event themes, decorations, choosing a creative menu, and assisting with event set‐up and clean‐up.
Showcase your strong writing skills by writing about the work of the Friends and the latest news at the Center for the Arts. Responsibilities include conducting minimal background research, reporting accurately, and requires a basic understanding of editing functions.
Utilize your artistic eye and take photographs for the Center for the Arts. Photographers and note takers attend special events and capture all the fun.
Volunteers are needed to assist the office staff with occasional large administrative tasks such as stuffing envelopes for mailings, making phone calls, etc.
The Friends are looking for enthusiastic members who are willing to devote their talents and energy to supporting the Center for the Arts and its programmatic activities. Contact us to learn more about the nomination process and the roles and responsibilities of members serving on the Board of Directors.
