The annual Sojourner Truth lecture is given by a Black woman who exemplifies a commitment to the principles embodied by Sojourner Truth through scholarship, the arts, politics, or activism. This year the Sojourner Truth Lecture will be given by Janet Mock.

Janet Mock, writer of Redefining Realness, TV host, and trans advocate will speak on black womanhood and her experiences. She considers herself a Beyoncé scholar, but is widely known as a sought-after speaker and prominent advocate for trans women's rights. She hosts the weekly culture show "So POPular!" on MSNBC’s hit network and serves as Contributing Editor for Marie Claire.

Students and faculty/staff must present a valid Mason ID at the Center for the Arts Ticket Office (cash/credit) or the Student Involvement Office (Mason Money) to purchase up to two discounted tickets.
