Virginia Opera presents the world's most popular comic opera in this delightful production of Rossini's perfect opera buffa. Full of comical high jinks, mistaken identities, and longing lovers, The Barber of Seville recounts the tale of Count Almavira, a love-sick noble man who is prohibited from seeing his beloved Rosina by the curmudgeon who is her guardian. So Almavira enlists the help of Figaro, the town's barber and all-around problem solver. The two scheme, concocting tricks and hoaxes, to gain access to the lovely Rosina, and hopefully unite Almavira with his beloved. The iconic score of this work contains some of the most recognizable tunes in all of music, including "Largo al factotum," "Figaro's Aria," and "Una voce poco fa." Michael Shell directs this production for Virginia Opera and Virginia native Will Liverman plays the clever Figaro. Don't miss this performance filled with exquisite voices, wit, and charm.

Performed in Italian with English supertitles.
