Feel the full intensity of this dark comedy as percussionist Antonio Sanchez performs his critically acclaimed score onstage while the Oscar-winning film Birdman (or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) is projected behind him. The movie pulses with a restless urgency because of the skilled direction and commanding performances of a star-studded cast. But it is the innovative drumming score that is at the very core of the film, underpinning each scene, generating the uneasy feeling of impending doom. Written and performed by the acclaimed jazz percussionist Antonio Sanchez, the drummer in Pat Metheny's band, the score has received accolades for its wildly spontaneous and organic sound. Winning Oscars for best picture, director, original screenplay and cinematography, the movie stars Michael Keaton with Edward Norton, Naomi Watts, Zach Galifianakis and Emma Stone. It follows a faded Hollywood star, famous for playing a movie superhero, in his attempt to mount a Broadway play hoping to reinvigorate his failing career. Antonio Sanchez's drum performance propels the emotional core of the story as this increasingly desperate actor struggles with fame, family, and legacy. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind experience.
